Sanjana’s Poems-Dusk
Dusk
The time in which many emotions
Flood the banks of your mind at once.
Longing for the love and comfort,
Of the person you hold dear.
Hurt, broken, depressed,
Break the barriers of the dam quickly.
While you observe Dusk,
You also reflect on your life
Reviving your happy moments,
Who and what caused them.
But also bringing to mind,
Those who have hurt you.
Piercing you in the heart with a needle
Tempting and pricking
Hurting you more each time.
They keep reappearing.
But the soft pink hue of the sky
Calms the hurricane in your mind.
Slowly retreating until
Only beautiful thoughts occupy the space.
But not completely erasing the
What ifs?
Making you over-analyze everything
Making you skeptical of the present
Making you regret past decisions
Making you repeat every point in life
Making you think of an alternate ending
Until you feel the disappointment
Burn your vision
Spilling hatred over the peak of the volcano
Adding to your anxiety.
But the soft hand of Dusk
Wipes the tears on your cheek away.
Patting your shoulder, Dusk reassures you that
Everything turned out the way it did for a reason.
Humans are supposed to make mistakes
Learn from them
Improve from them
Reflect on them.
So you allow yourself to be swayed by Dusk’s words
And let your mind go blank.
The raging storm of your mind turns into a peaceful beach
While you watch Dusk slowly blend in with the darkness.
